Hi everyone! Who all is a musician here? What instruments do you use? What genres are your favorites? Don’t be shy, Put in some links so we can all listen to your craft!

I’m a classically trained violist who teaches violin, viola, and chamber music. I also get to play fiddle in the Florida band Scuttered the Bruce,
Check us out if you like on FB, Spotify, or our website www.scuttered.com

I can’t wait to meet all the musicians in GS!

My name's Richard, and I am 40yrs old.
I am disabled with (autism/brain-injury)
and a long time ago, I was a US Army servicemen.

Back in 2008, when I first moved to South Florida
my Dad played the following from his music collection 4 me.

James Taylor, Jim Croce, John Denver, Jose Feliciano
Magdelena and Classical Gas. (so I have folk music in my heart)

And music that I still listen to from my youth, is
Ska (tim armstrong), Stoner-rock infuzed Blues-core.
a bit of Glam rock, Glam-punk (1970's).

When I was growing up in Los Angeles in the 80s-90s
My cousin was a bass player for a Punk band.
So (X), Runaways, Blondie, Abba. Bohemien Rhapsody

I currently have a hollow-body Ibenez, that is more or less
a wall decoration, But If I can re-learn the chords my Dad
taught me, and practice some finger-picking exercises.

I would eventually like to buy a practice amp, and network
with beginner musicians in my Local Area.

PS: Ybor City, has a good blues scene. And the Tangerine
Blues Festival is pretty awesome.

Thanks for letting me share.

Growing up in Los Angeles, you just know people who are in the entertainment industry. Producers, writers, grips, etc.... In my case, I lived a few houses down from a Props Master that worked on movies like T2, and TV shows like Star Trek: TNG, SeaQuest DSV, and a short-lived Space Rangers TV Series. I was friends with his nephew, and often he'd let us play with the trash props (the broken ones made out of plywood). I remember one time, he had a pair of Klingon Bat'leths that we had an epic sword fight with.

Nowadays it seems easier than ever to make props, out of foam and stuff. I've been wanting to get into it. I've seen YouTube videos, and I like watching people making them on Twitch. One of my faves to watch is KamuiCosplay, they make unreal looking stuff. Anyone here make props? Got any tips on how or where to start?

I have no tips but I wanted to say this is awesome and I hope you post some pics of props as you experiment. I do follow a guy who makes mandalorian armor for cosplay out of metal, I hold prop artists in high esteem! I can’t wait to see what you craft!

Maybe check out the Marshall mini practice amp while you decide on a proper floor amp. They retail for around fifty bucks. Don't let the size fool you. They sound great. You can run it on a AC power supply or a 9 volt DC and clip it to a belt and carry it around to rawk your neighbors.

Thanks! I've been interested in making my own lightsaber hilt for ages, I think that'll be my first project!

I play. Self taught by ear during my teens on an electric Hondo H-76 strat copy. Still have it along with a Washburn VGA 15 amp. Got an Takemine Jasmine S35, a Honer HW300G, and a Washburn D10 with a really nice set of Grover keys and a Martin hard shell case that I got for a steal from a little shop when I was on a job in New Jersey. I basically paid the value of the keys and case and got a free guitar. And, I have a Boulder Creek Riptide electric ukulele that's super fun to play that I picked up in Corpus Christi. I've only ever put any of my stuff on to the net once and that was a short comic composition that I did with the Riptide on a manic high and posted to funny or die, but it seems to have gone wherever fod videos go to die. I still have a take on my old mac. Maybe I'll dig it out sometime. Other than that I've got about, maybe, ten minutes of original stuff. Twenty-three years of playing, maybe ten minutes of original material and it never even got me laid. Some things are their own reward.

And, bye-the-way, great jewelry that you have made, MargaritaMama.
