A Fisherman's Life in Online

I like Fishing!

Many times I find myself alone Online (since the dropoff of players & my being late to the party of RDO) and when I do, I like to fish. I'm sure some folks find fishing boring or a bit of a grind, but I enjoy it and find it relaxing and have even developed a strategy that is rather lucrative! Plus, not many assholes grief me while I do it, except when I go to the butcher, but lately I haven't run into too much trouble.

Considering one can carry 10 of each kind of fish (excluding the larger ones that need to ride on your horse's back) & even if some rando shoots and kills you, you don't lose the fish in your pockets- Fishing can be rather stress free.

I have found I can make at almost $100 in an hour or so. Sure, that might not be a super great amount of money and my method is a little grindy, but I enjoy it and thought I would share in case any other fisherman out there were interested.

*One note: I use the Special Spinner. I know- I know, how could I spend my precious gold on a freaking fishing lure! I have actually found it very useful, as I never have to buy or restock on bait & it catches all fish in any location I go. Sooo- Eh.

I use this small section of the map:
Image

Sockeye Salmon go for $2.50 x 10 = $25
Largemouth Bass go for $2 x 10 =$20
Smallmouth Bass also go for $2 x 10 =$20
Stealhead Trout go for $2.50 x 10 = $25
...and if you stop and grab a big ole' Lake Sturgeon at $7.50
You can Net $97.50 per trip

Here's my typical route, using the * as points where I stand & cast from:

As a bonus, there are also those little fish, like Pickel and Bluegill, Rock Bass, etc. That if are at least a 1 lbs can get you $1 each, up to ten for each kind. Sooo, I always pocket some of those as well and get a little more $$$.

That's it! Let me know if anybody else has any fishing tips. :D

Sorry Dunk, I know this is an old post, but my son got the game for Xmas and has been playing it quite a bit. I am not sure if your son is still playing or if he is playing on PS4, but I will let him know. I believe they connected a while back through our old young guns section, not sure if they still play together, if they do then you can just ignore this ;)

Yeah, they still play whenever he's on PS4, though most of what he has right now is Xbox. Red Dead is on sale here for like 30 bucks so I think I might end up getting it, just because he has such a fun time playing with your son :D
