I am really thinking about picking one up. My Girlfriend is a Mario fan so guess Ill have to get one for her. She has been asking for 5 years for me to pick up something Nitendo related to play Mario but we have put it off. Think its that time.
I've had it for about 2 hours now, and having a blast. If you get the nintendo plus thingy it's $20 a year, and you can play all the old classic Nintendo games it's AWESOME!

yeah man, $20 a year or $3.99 a month with a 7 day trial. Totally worth it just to play the old Nintendo games.

Breath of the Wild was the single biggest factor in getting back into video games. I know this post is a few months old but I was wondering what else you've gotten into. I am really loving Super Mario Odyssey and Tetris 99. Gris was a slow but beautiful indie game. And I have Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade 2 but haven't played either of them yet. (Im not the type of person who can play multiple involved story games at one time)

Totally get where you are coming from, I can't play two story driven games at the same time, it just messes me up!

BotW is an absolutely amazing game and a slam dunk if you own a Switch. Mario Odyssey has done absolutely nothing for me tho. I have played about 4 hours of it, and it felt like a real chore, which is nuts for me to say about a Mario game. Have been tempted to look into Xenoblade 2 tho, I have heard some very good things.

Splatoon 2 is worth a shot, don't let the cutesy art dissuade you

Xenoblade 2 and Octopath Traveler are fun if you like JRPGs (Octopath in particular if you like classic JRPGs)

Golf Story went from me saying "that sounds really, really stupid" to it being one of my top games that year. Another RPG.

Cave Story, Super Meat Boy, Shovel Knight, VVVVVV, and Celeste if you like platformers and didn't play them on PC

And Tetris 99 is free Tetris battle royale

Add me when you get your switch!

Odyssey did become a chore once all the levels had been beaten. I tried to go back to collect all the moons etc but it just wasn't as fulfilling. But the initial playthrough I did find fun and hilarious.
Edited: Because "Odyssey" is literally the hardest word in the universe for me to spell right on the first try.
