The "I Just Watched THIS on Netflix" Thread

Postby McMurphy » Mon Jul 18, 2011 10:31 pm

Wii owners. PS3 owners. Xbox360 owners. More and more of them have one thing in common. They watch Netflix on their respective consoles. As you watch television series or movies on your account, let us know about them, good or bad!

I will start things off by pointing out that Toezer and I watched the 2010 film, The Fighter on Netflix last night. I don't know if I liked it as much as many of the critics, but it is certainly worth a watch.

Netflix is only available in the US and recently Canada :? .. there's a similar thing in the UK, but I can't think of the name of it.

My wife and I have just recently watched the entire run of Twin Peaks and in the last few days have started watching the BBC's new Sherlock Holmes reboot.

Twin Peaks was great, bad, then almost great again, though the movie, Fire Walk With Me, was an indulgent, art school mess that spoiled the charm of the series.

Sherlock is pretty cool so far, with lots of knowing nods to the original stories. I'm not sure how I feel about the portrayal of Mycroft, but the corpulence of the original was hinted at in a joke between the brothers. I especially like that both Holmes and Watson are bad-asses who know how to take care of themselves. That wasn't Guy Ritchie's innovation.

I just watched the 14 episodes of Firefly. I hadn't seen it before, but had heard a lot of my friends liked it and complain when it was cancelled. I thought it was pretty good. i wish it wasn't cancelled so i can continue and learn more about the characters.

I'm going to watch the Serenity movie today i think. Maybe that will answer some questions.

I watched Ip Man and just now finished watching Ip Man 2. Even though I really enjoyed both movies, I feel the first one is much better. The second one reminded me of Rocky 3. After the last fight, I would not have been surprised in the least if he yelled "Adriannnn!"

At any rate, both movies are highly recommended.

Heroes (1977) Henry Winkler,Sally Field, Harrison Ford. I haven't seen it since it played at the theater. All I remembered about this movie was that I was really touched by the ending and that a Kansas song played during the final credits (not the same one I remembered though). I was only six at the time. I actually teared up a little bit watching it this time around.
