I always see a ton of anime on Netflix but I never know which ones are good. Any suggestions?

You gotta get hulu for the good ones.

That's true. I had a Hulu Plus trial for 30 days once and loved that they had DBZ and Macross in the original Japanese tracks and voices.

I love anime and manga too!

Just finished watching Barakamon which was really great. It reminded me of Totoro a bit, except Barakamon is about an outcast calligrapher going to live in a small community on a remote island. Unusual set up, but really charming and funny. He makes friends with the kids and one of them is very much like Mei from Totoro. Also the kids are very well written and have some superb dialogue.

A friend recommended Mushi shi to me, which is sorta like a series of folk tales, but I couldn't quite get into it. Best film I've come across lately was Summer Wars. Started playing Hanafuda regularly after watching it!

Have read and watched all of Attack on Titan recently too and the manga is much more enjoyable than the anime. The pacing is much better in the books. I've never read anything which feels quite so desperate and scary. Everyone is vulnerable. Harrowing at times but exciting to read.

Fave classic anime: Akira. That soundtrack.

You can get hanafuda cards on Amazon (hanafuda is a game central to Summer Wars). It's a really nice game for 2-4 people, but two player is best. Nice way to hang out with someone and the cards are beautiful :)

I'm making a full swing back into anime. I'm currently watching Knights of Sidonia on Netflix and have added plenty more shows to watch. I'm also reading the Akira manga which my local library has thankfully.

Looking forward to more anime in 2015!

Is Hulu better than Crunchyroll for anime selections? I typically watch my anime on Crunchyroll as they've got a huge selection of anime I could never, ever hope to go through in my entire life, but people keep suggesting I try out Hulu instead. I admit I'm not a fan of the advertisements despite paying a subscription, so I've never touched the site outside of a brief time to finish off the Bleach series years ago.

Hulu isn't bad, your best to have both. Hulu does have a pretty good selection and tends to get funi locked anime about a week after original air
