Battlezone (1980)

Do you recall all the wasted hours on the games and consoles of the past? Everything from the first Playstation and the Nintendo 64 to the NES and the Dreamcast is fair "game" here.

Please forgive the lame pun.

Battlezone (1980)

Battlezone is first-person view from inside of a tank. Battles are fought within a large valley surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. There are "pyramids" and "boxes" that can provide shelter. The Enemies include slow and fast "super" tanks and intelligent missiles. Flying saucers also appear but do not attack, they are worth higher point values.

There is a radar screen at the top center of the display showing current enemy positions. The player actually looks through a plastic viewfinder that is mounted to the front of the game, this makes the game much more realistic as well.

Man, the quarters this game sucked up on many nights at the arcade!

We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.

I remember playing a maze game in 1979, found it and it was developed in 1973!

I never played the original Battlezone but I did play a game similar during the 90's called T-mek. It was an arcade favorite for my cousin and I when we were in HS. I was one of very few who actually owned the home version on the Sega 32X.
