I hate snakes.....

Permanent Linkby mikelaird1 on Wed Aug 07, 2013 2:26 pm

So wondering how many of ya out there actually are aware of the potential dangers that could be in your face and never know it.I have in the past 2 days killed around 14 water moccasins at the end of my drive way.I usually keep a watchful eye out as my kids catch the bus at the end of the drive way and we live in the country with rice fields and crawfish fields within throwing distance from our house.I have noticed an abundance of water moccasins in my ditch due to it retaining a small bit of water and it being so dry.So every evening I set out with my gun and ride my golf cart to the end of the drive way and proceed to wreak havoc on snakes.I have killed roughly 20 ish this summer along with some cotton mouths which were in my flower bed. This just seems like a normal way of life to us and wonder if any of you have had so much run in with dangerous creatures of the sort.I am forever seeing brown recluses and black widows and I keep a tidy yard and pressure wash on a regular basis so how many of you have actually seen what is lurking around your house??????

Mike you are a terrible person. How can you go round killing innocent creatures. You should trap them and then release them a safe distance from your house.

Fortunately here in the U.K. there isn't really any dangerous wildlife. The native snakes are small constrictors so no danger of dying from a snake bite. Our spiders are of the small helpful variety. They simply help reduce the insect population without posing any threat to us. We have no man-eating reptiles waiting in the rivers. Some domesticated dogs are more of concern than any of the wildlife. Over here due to the extremely tight weapon laws there are people that buy powerful dogs and train them to attack as it is less likely you will get arrested for walking your dog than if you are found carrying a weapon. The most dangerous wildlife you are likely to see here is a wild boar but they are pretty scarce and tend to hide from humans in places where we don't go too much.

As someone who enjoys visiting Louisiana, especially the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas, I thank you for killing the poisonous snakes that I'd probably be dumb enough to step on and get my ass bit.

No, up north we have very little to worry about other then poison ivy (it's absolutely everywhere), lime disease carrying ticks and EEE carrying mosquitoes. Apart from those, life's a cakewalk.

Totally not a fan of the slithering creatures atleast its not my pet preference. I was raised most of my life up north in Michigan where you are taught not to mess with the furry creatures and not so much about the cold blooded. But sadly I have moved down here to the Carolinas and have come across a few snakes mostly just black rat but for the life of me I avoided it anyway those buggers get big. Do what you have to do sir for the safety of your home and family they are number one.
